Chrome doesn’t just download webpages, it can download any file that has been hyperlinked to. Chrome can only handle certain file types, like images and webpages, which it will display for you. However, if you tap on a hyperlink that points to a file that Chrome cannot display, such as a Zip file, it will start downloading the file in the background.
You’ll be able to see a download indicator in the status bar of your phone. Dragging the notification pane downwards will show the progress of the download. To view and open a file that has been downloaded, open your app drawer and launch the Downloads app. This will display all files stored in the Downloads folder of the storage drive on your device. Open files by tapping.
